The Warwickshire Vein Clinic is a partnership between three consultant vascular surgeons
who have worked closely over many years. Their aim is to use the latest techniques
combined with years of surgical experience to deliver the highest standards in medical care:

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
This is a serious condition where blood clots form in the deep veins of the leg.
There are a number of risk factors for DVT including obesity, immobility, air travel
and abnormalities of the blood clotting system. The presence of the DVT is often
associated with pain and swelling in the leg. In the acute stages, DVT is treated
with drugs that reduce the risk of further clots forming in the legs or the clots
travelling to the lungs. In the long-term, a DVT may permanently damage the deep
veins of the leg, leading to skin damage and ulceration. Your Consultant has considerable
experience in the management of patients who have suffered a DVT and will be able to advise
on appropriate investigations, risk factors and long term prevention of further complications.
