The Consultants
The Warwickshire Vein Clinic is a partnership between three consultant vascular surgeons
who have worked closely over many years. Their aim is to use the latest techniques
combined with years of surgical experience to deliver the highest standards in medical care:

Endovenous Laser Therapy.
In suitable patients, this is an effective new treatment
for varicose veins performed under either local or general anaesthetic as a day case. After
anaesthetising the skin, a guide wire and catheter is inserted under ultrasound control into
the long vein in the thigh, from where the varicose veins originate. Further local anaesthetic
is then injected along the length of the vein, and then a laser current is passed through the
catheter to shrivel up the varicose vein along its length.
After the procedure, your leg will be bandaged for 7 days, and then you will wear a support
stocking for a further 7 days. You will be encouraged to take short daily walks, but otherwise
continue with normal activities. At around 2 weeks you will be reviewed by your consultant vascular
surgeon to assess your progress.
